Circumferential Fiberotomy
Dental Fiberotomy (Circumferential supra-crestal fiberotomy or Pericision) is a procedure whereby the fibers that attach the gum to the tooth are severed. This procedure may reduce the tendency of teeth undergoing orthodontic treatment to relapse. This is a relatively simple procedure and can be carried out in the dental chair under local anaesthetic. If your teeth are rotated prior to orthodontic treatment, then this is a procedure that may minimise the risk of orthodontic relapse, when your orthodontic brackets are removed.
